Configuration

The Group Invite functionality can be added individually to group types. It has to be installed at the content plugin page at /admin/group/types/manage/<group_type>/content.

After clicking on Install, you're forwarded to a page where you can setup the initial configuration.

Configuring

The configuration basically consists of setting up the email text that is used to send notifications to the invited users. There is a separate text for members of the platforms and people that don't have an account yet.

By default no email is sent to users that already have an account on the platform, you can enable this by checking the box at "Invitation e-mail for registered users".

In #3203042 a new option "Expire invites" is added that allows you to configure how long it takes for invites to expire.

In #3191496 a new option "Skip invitation creation form" is added that allows you to bypass the membership form and accept the invitation directly. See the issue for the rationale behind the need to bypass this form.

In #3209663 a new option is added that brings more granularity in who can add roles to invited users. Instead of allowing everyone that may invite users to also assign them a role, this is now only available for users with the "administer group members" permissions.

In #3400030 a new option "Remove invitation" is added that allows to remove group relationship (group content), when user become a member of a group

In #3437922 a new option "Send invitation e-mail to invitee" is added that allows to enable or disable emails to an invitee 

In #3294710 a new option "Automatically accept invitation" is added that allows to automatically accept invitations, if user email is matching the invitation email

In #3196248 a new option "Unblock registered users coming from an invitation​​​​​​​​​​​​​​" is added that allows to unblock the registered user if he has an invitation

You can always change the emails or configuration by going back to the content plugin overview for the group type and clicking Configure.
