"OpenLayers is an open-source JavaScript library for displaying map data in web browsers as slippy maps. It provides an API for building rich web-based geographic applications similar to Google Maps and Bing Maps." (as described by Wikipedia).
The purpose of this module is to make a significant part of the Openlayers library available to Drupal users who wish to display a map anywhere on a Drupal website.
It is possible to display geo-location data (grid references, boundaries, etc) that have been extracted from one or more nodes or files.
Finally, the maps can be configured in a variety of ways to interact with the user.
