This module has no stable release in nearly 3 years

and no commits since last year.

what should we do about it? this is a critical piece of software to a lot of websites

Edit: Here is some more specifics:

HEAD is 12 commits ahead of 7.x-1.1

I'm not sure if they all still apply but that's a lot of potential fixes.

Some like #1674792: Rendered entity is not language aware are essential for basic utility in a multilingual site.

I concur, I just had a discussion this morning about this module about including a entityreference dev branch into our drupal distribution because it is so outdated. We would much rather track stable releases and some minor patches.

I know 7.x is un-sexy now with 8.2 well underway but I think enityreference is overdue for a version bump.

I updated the above description with more info.

If you look at #2784307: Entityreference is abandoned , ddave added minorOffense as a maintainer.

Coldfront Labs will be tackling this module soon.

Closing this as the module is no longer "abandoned".
