Career foundations

Adrian brings a rare depth of perspective to the web — one shaped by nearly three decades at the front lines of telecommunications. During a 28-year career with AT&T, he advanced from facilities work all the way to Network/WAN engineering, tracking the full arc of the digital age along the way.

That journey took him from analog teletypes and 50 bps data circuits through T1s, DS3s, multiplexers, and modems, and ultimately into broadband, Frame-Relay, ATM, and enterprise IP networking — working on Bay Networks/Nortel and Cisco equipment with protocols including IP, IPX, SNA, and AppleTalk.

After retiring in 2001, he continued as an independent contractor — supporting Microsoft environments, firewalls, internet infrastructure, and field technical services — before his path turned toward the web.

Finding Drupal

His web journey began with a BBS he ran for members of his faith community — which led him to HTML, then Joomla, and eventually to Drupal through a community-driven initiative in 2012. He hasn't looked back.

What drew him to Drupal wasn't just the technology — it was the community. The spirit of cooperation and service he found there resonated deeply with his Bahá'í faith. Through local Meetup involvement he built relationships that made a full career transition possible, joining Net2Community as a Developer and Site Builder in September 2017.

Growing as a developer

Drupal has been a platform not just for building sites, but for building skills. Adrian has expanded steadily into the full modern development stack — version control with Git, dependency management with Composer, and custom module development. He approaches areas he doesn't yet know as opportunities, not obstacles.

He keeps pace with where Drupal is heading: working with Drupal Recipes and Site Templates for streamlined, reusable site provisioning, and exploring AI integration within the Drupal ecosystem as it matures into a practical tool for content and development workflows.

Beyond the screen

Adrian is a photographer at heart — a passion sparked by sharing a darkroom with his brother as a kid and carried forward into the digital era. Music is equally central to who he is; he performed professionally in his earlier years and hopes to find his way back to playing and performing as time allows.

He and his wife co-founded Pizza and Social Justice, a nonprofit that brings people together over food to have honest, open conversations about race and equity in their community — work he considers just as important as anything he does behind a keyboard.
