I've been interested in Computer Science my entire life starting out at school on the Commodore 64 and at home on the Apple IIe. My earliest interest as a nerdy science kid was in genetics and DNA sequencing and then I got more into programming using Apple's Hypercard/Supercard technology. After joining the Army, my focus was on creating and maintaining Windows domains and I eventually moved into supporting the battalion's websites. It was about this time that I began working almost exclusively Linux although the last year or two I've been caught using a Mac. After a couple years of undergrad I was introduced by a professor to the marriage of genetics and programming - aptly named genetic programming which applies across a wide range of fields because of the nature of the computational predictions. In grad school I leaned towards bioinformatics and participate in contests on kaggle.com, a platform for data prediction competitions. I started working with Drupal in 2007 as a back end developer supporting large-scale media sites and have worked with everything from mom & pop four-page sites to enterprise scale websites and even have leveraged Drupal to create web-based applications. Most recently I've been getting into iOS development by working with the iPad/iPhone SDK.
In 2009 I wrote a book called "BASH.ED" which is an informal introduction into BASH shell programming.
I've presented Drupal related topics at SouthEast Linux Fest 2010 and Drupalcamp Atlanta 2010.
Aside from my general tech nerdiness, I like to play the guitar, mandolin, banjo, and violin.
I graduated with a B.S. in computer Science from Augusta State University in 2007 and a M.S. in Computer Science from Kennesaw State University in 2010.
