Billy works differently. Standard practice in the information technology industry is to specialize on a particular technology, and to install that technology for use by the customer, treating the technology as a solution unto itself. This puts the cart before the horse.
As a generalist, Billy isn't wedded to any particular technology, instead he maximizes the utility of computer systems by first inventorying the business requirements, particularly regarding addressing inefficient and labor-intensive business processes. Those insights then drive an unbiased selection of technologies, combined into an architecture aligned with new business processes which improves productivity through both efficiencies and higher quality outcomes.
Billy approaches your problems from two unique viewpoints. The first is his perspective as an economist (economists study optimal resource allocation). The second is as a technology generalist, which allows him to select technologies that precisely address your situation.
The perspective of addressing your idiosyncratic problems means that Billy partners with you and closely follows the software deployment to guage how well it's reducing effort, saving costs, and improving your product, all in the context of your existing staff's skill sets, availability, and training opportunities. Typical implementations end with installation and configuration of the software (that's the easy part). Billy then follows the implementation effort to ensure that how the software is used is indeed having a substantive positive impact on optimizing the product of our labors.
