uBrowser - new way to browse taxonomy

From the project page...

"uBrowser is the new way to browse taxonomy for Drupal 5.x. It creates an easy to use interface for browsing vocabularies (categories) like you would browse a directory tree. Each term in the vocabulary is like a file folder, and clicking on it in the category select box will display all the nodes that have been classified with that term in the node select box. The look may be changed in the CSS, but other display options such as search forms, action buttons, and display names may be specified when the uBrowser is built for display."

Drupal 5 performance benchmarks

Dries has benchmarked Drupal 5 against Drupal 4.7. The results are mixed, with the end result being that most sites will be faster, some will be much faster, and some will be marginally slower. I've been eagerly awaiting these results, and they are roughly in line with what I was expecting. Not all of the details are covered, of course; these are basic benchmarks that will paint a rough picture. Some features are significantly faster in Drupal 5. For example, if you have many modules which add CSS files to the theme, Drupal 5 is good for you (due to the CSS aggregator). If you have the recent comments block turned on, Drupal 5 will also outperform 4.7 in a significant way.

Thanks to Dries for these benchmarks. Who else has done benchmarking, and what are your results?

Drupal 5.1 screencasts for beginners

Really useful set of screencasts giving a gentle introduction to Drupal 5.1 for newcomers.

I learned three things that weren't immediately obvious from the Handbooks/Docs/Help. Seeing the administration screens, the configuration steps and the end result on the screen is very helpful.

1. What on earth are primary links ?
2. How to display Categories in the sidebar ?
3. Why didn't Drupal honour my <h2> tags ?
