Module development and code questions

Hi, this is what I'm trying to do:

1. Create a content type out of CCK with a selection box with several options.
2. Before the node is inserted/updated, I want to extract the selected option and manipulate it.

Step 2 what I don't know how to do. If I was modifying a story/page node, I would play around with hook_view() or something like that, but I'm not sure what to do with CCK.

I am new to drupal and am really enjoying it. I am looking to set up an online store. I have downloaded and installed "ecommerce-4.7.0" module and so far it looks good.

I am able to create products and pages but i am not sure how you actually add the products to the page without doing it manually. There must be a easy way of doing this.

Can someone advise me on the best way of doing this and if anyone knows of a guide or video on how to do this i would be very gratful.

I'm using Komodo on a Mac,and trying to debug my local drupal install. I know this is possible as I see someone has already done it http://old.mostlygeek.com/node/83. Everything seems to be installed correctly: komodo is listening on port 9000 and the php.ini is defined to use 9000. I can debug by executing the program within the debugger and supplying the arguments but I can't seem to get it to work the other way, i.e appending the XDEBUG_SESSION_START= to the url.

I need to send some data in text/plain from my module to the browser. How do I tell drupal not to do any formating to my output?

I am setting up a site for a coordinated action, so that various cities can have an event all on the same day and at the same time.

I've got Drupal 4.7 with event, flexinode and location.

I have a flexinode/event nodetype and I need to include the location of the event in the day view, preferably with zipcode, state and city drawn from the location tables in the database (and if links to a list of other events taking place in said zipcodes and states were involved, I wouldn't be upset).

Hi- I was wondering if anyone familiar with the new aggregator modules could help me out.

I see two different versions of this apparently

Which is more powerful and robust? seems like "Aggregator 2" has more features.

Would anyone be willing to install this module for me and get it going?

I am really really bad at these things I had to even get someone to install drupal for me even though I had the autoinstaller fantastico with drupal with my host so I am a newbie to say the least.

It would be for my site www.filmportal.com which is like youtube but I want to rearrange everything to make the aggregator be on the main index page and replace the videos hosted on site with outbound links like www.flurl.com as i dont have time to search the net for free videos 24/7 and my users dont seem to upload many of thier own.

I would really appreciate anyones help if you would be generous enough to come to my rescue, as the alternative is ripping out drupal which I cant figure out for the life of me and starting over with something else which would be pretty sad since I have wasted literally a year of my life on drupal trying to learn it and am extremely disapointed so far as the learning curve is not steep, it is practically impenetrable.

I would be really grateful if anyone could help me out.
