Ingrid von Wantoch Rekowski was born in 1967 in Bad Godesberg, Germany and is Franco-German by birth. After initially studying piano, dance and painting in the United States, she embarked on her directing career at INSAS (Institut National Supérieur des Arts et Spectacles) in Brussels. Notably she has trained with Eugenio Barba, Bob Wilson, Georges Aperghis, Trisha Brown, Alexei Levinski, Dario Fo and Anatoli Vassiliev.

In 1994 she sets up the Lucilia Caesar theatre company in Brussels, creating unusual shows and developing a polyphonic and multi-disciplinary theatricality that extends to music theatre, performance and video. Her works include A-Ronne II (1996), an interpretation for the stage of Luciano Berio’s work for radio, Rubens-Metamorfoses (2004), a video tableau vivant inspired by the painter Rubens and Raphaël, les Sirènes et le Poulet (2010) an original piece of music theatre. These projects have been staged in Brussels, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Sao Paolo (Brazil).
