It has been over a year (January 2009) since the 1.1 release came out, and from the look of several closed bug reports, there are a lot of fixes in dev. Are there any plans for a release in the near future?

Yes. The module has undergone some significant changes this past month so I'm waiting until the dust settles a little bit before making a new release, probably during April. Feedback on the latest dev would help me iron out the issues!
