Possible to show numbers of items within top tabs?

I couldn't find any other tickets that explored this, but I'm wondering how numbers could be implemented in the top tabs on Workbench so you could see how many items are, for example, in Drafts or Needs Review, etc. See attached screenshot for an illustrated example.
