This notice about Websockets has is posted to comply with the procedures for Dealing with unsupported (abandoned) projects.

It is posted to inquire whether the project is still being maintained.

The reason I am asking is that:

  • there is no stable or recommended release and the latest dev snapshot is from 2013-Oct-26 (more than two years old);
  • in the issue queue there two offers to help out with maintenance that has not been acted upon.

I am not interested in taking over maintenance. However, having it marked as "Unsupported" will lower the threshold to get a new maintainer onboard.

If there is no response within two weeks, this issue will be moved to the Drupal.org project ownership issue queue with a recommendation that the project is marked as "Unsupported" until a new maintainer is found.

A copy of this notice has been sent the current owner - Simon Rycroft (sdrycroft) - via the contact tab on the Drupal.org user profile page.

The maintainer just sent me this reply by email:

The websockets module is minimally maintained, but to be honest it's more of a proof of concept module, so doesn't really need much additional maintenance.

I guess that this means that those who want to see a production ready websockets module must create their own websockets project, rather than offering to help out with this one.
