Hi,

This concept is amazing! I commend you on your work and vision for this project.

I'm running into 1 issues that is limiting me from trying the module and I have another question/idea to throw into the brainstorm mix:

1) I followed the steps for install and created an action and a trigger, but when I go to http://example.com/webcam_trigger and allow access to my webcam, it just perpetually searches (bottom left hourglass spinning and spinning and spinning forever!). I know my webcam is working because I'm using the Viddler Module and when I allow it access it utilizes my webcam in my drupal site just fine. Any thoughts on what is happening? I have all the permission enabled and have tried with primary user and authenticated test accounts.

2) Assuming we can trouble shoot this. Is it possible to create a directory where you could keep multiple patterns? For example could you have a directory where you could store an infinite amount of patterns that would either do a URL redirect or login. I know this is more of a feature request, but I want to include this in the brainstorm session.

Let me know your thoughts on this when you have a chance.

Cheers,

CarbonPig

Hi,

I really happy about your interest:)

Issue no1.: I checked and the same happened to me as well. It was strange, because last time I used this module on a site worked fine. I checked in each browser and got the error. Then I opened the source and ran it and it worked suddenly. After that began working in browsers also. I assume it's somewhere in the actionscript source. Maybe I started wrong the camera initialization. I'll try to fix it.

Issue no2.: It is a good idea. The way I imagine, you can upload patterns, and there will be separate webcam_trigger pages related to those patterns. Thus you can bind different actions to them.
I don't know by when I can do this, so I share the actionscript sources.

Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

Nice to hear back.

#1 - OK - Do you have a patch that I can test. I'm still getting the same error.

#2 - I'm imagining that you could load thousands of unique images using http://drupal.org/project/mobile_codes and that the one webcam_trigger page could read any image! Maybe this is too difficult, but would open some amazing opportunities.

Keep me updated on your great work.

Cheers,

any updates on that?

member's pattern. this would be an amazing feature. allow users to login using their i.d, instead of just barcodes, for example. erm, can it do this already?

if i snap an image of my i.d today, then again next week, how much differences would there be if i compare both files in binary?

instead of storing patterns in folders, its faster to compare flashed patterns(images) from database. this could mean biometric in drupal by face recognition. but of course i could print someone's face up to real scale and try to flash it, that would be an exploit.

would love to work on this.

I'm not sure that the current FLAR toolkit can handle the detailed patterns that an ID card has. But maybe there are other libraries. I don't have time for this but any contribution would be very welcomed.
