I need for my competition the possibility to define a period when the voting is active. After this time the voting should be disabled. Is there a possibility for this functionality?

VotingAPI handles storage and calculation of vote data; it's up to the additional modules, like fivestar, plus1, or vote_up_down to handle when they allow votes to be cast.
