Views 3.x implements pluggable pagers, but I think this could be possible in Views 2.x too.
We could somehow attach to the Views pager, using it's settings (N number of items to display per page) and scrolling button would act like AJAX "next" pager button, loading next N items into carousel.

Great module but no ajax loading is a real problem. We want to use a carousel to display items from a product catalog but the load time is too long without ajax.

I'm currently garnering support for replacing Views Carousel with the 2.0 version of jCarousel (see #983844: Deprecate this module now that jCarousel includes it), which includes this functionality. I'd appreciate users feedback by trying it out: http://drupal.org/project/jcarousel
