So here's my setup:

We are using fields with user references that we've added to the user account. We have a Manager field which is a user reference (via uid of course) to the user's manager.

Here are my steps:
1) create a new user view
2) add uid field, manager field (also a uid/reference), and login name
3) select Views Org Chart plugin
4) assign uid to "Views Org Chart Parent ID"
5) assign manager's uid to "Views Org Chart Primary Key"
6) assign login name to "Views Org Chart Tool-tip text"

Looking at the preview, it shows no output (except pager output - lots of pages of nothing) and indicates "No query was run".

When I switch the plugin back to unformatted list, it shows all the fields.

What am I doing wrong? Does the module only support nodes and not user entities?

Thanks!
Charles

Hi mausolos

Hope you are well.

Yes you are right you cannot see the graph in view preview. I have already mentioned on module page that you cannot see the preview(some javascript conflicts). One thing I have not mentioned in the document which I had been skipped. Please download the google Graph library https://www.google.com/jsapi and place it sites/all/libraries/google_api/google_chart_api.js. After doing this hopefully you will see the graph. Thanks

So I switched they uid and manager assignments from what I posted above. That yielded appropriate results.

The next problem is that we have 5500 employees. I tried using contextual filters to limit where the tree would start at, but I get no results. I changed the plugin to unformatted list, and that showed results (so I know I got the contextual filter right)

It would be very useful if there were a bit more instruction on how to build an org chart using this tool.

Hi

Could you confirm that views_org_chart related fields are displaying properly like Views Org Chart Parent ID , Views Org Chart Primary Key etc?. If these values are display properly then views_org_chart will display results. Also make sure that you are seeing the result on separate page instead of views preview.

Contextual filters could not affect to the views org charts rendering data. Thanks
