User Reference?

Can you confirm that this module works with User Reference as well as Node Reference. I have made several attempts at this but I always end up with empty displays.

My setup:

I have drupal users as part of the core. I have added in a user reference field on each user to select their manager from the existing users. I have set the Views Relationships to use the User Reference field and added fields using the relationship.
