How does views_content_ds differ from simply turning on views_content.module (part of ctools) and adding a dynamic field in DS? supports arguments etc. Note that EVA or the ds_extras custom fields are not even necessary here.

views_content_ds is straightforward to configure. You don't need to know anything about panels and context and arguments, when adding the ds field. Also you don't need ds_extras (which afaik you need for dynamic fields)

donquixote CreditAttribution: donquixote commentedSorry, I missed the second part.
Yes, EVA is not necessary for dynamic fields. This would be just another alternative.
About ds_extras, I'm not really sure if you need it or not. And if you would, that would not kill me.
The major point is the multiple steps of configuration with dynamic fields, which I simply find unpleasant.

scor CreditAttribution: scor commentedds_extras is not required for dynamic fields, these are two separate concepts. you should update your project description to make a comparison with ds dynamic fields and remove any reference to ds_extras.

donquixote CreditAttribution: donquixote commentedI updated the project page, I hope this is more clear now.
I should also add basic installation instructions, will discuss that in the other issue.

scor CreditAttribution: scor commentedI do see the difference now, it provides a nice short cut to skip dynamic fields. thanks!

emptyvoid CreditAttribution: emptyvoid commentedI would like to add another disadvantage to this module is it requires the xautoload module.. which if you are using features or context will GREATLY slow down your Drupal instance and cause php to GREATLY consume system RAM to generate features.

is this the case? Can you post an issue in xautoload?

donquixote CreditAttribution: donquixote commentedUpdate: I am setting this module "asleep".
People who already use it can continue to do so.
But no further development is going to happen, and I don't want to advertise it to new people.
