I'll be watching this as well; I'd love to be able to [more easily] pass arguments in from the blocks that Views generates.

i am interested too. until reading this, it never dawned on me that I would not be able to pass arguments into views like I have been. this would be a major show stopper for me in transitioning to views2.

Looking for this I also found http://drupal.org/project/views_arguments_extras, which is for D6.
