Hi guys,
strange thing happened. I can't choose "Block" from the "add display" - menue.
See attachments (View2 = editing an existing view. The same problem occurs in the "list" view = View1).
The english term "Block" is equal to the german one.
Any ideas how to solve this?
Thx .... Cilline

merlinofchaos commentedWell, Views1.png doesn't really matter much. That type is the base table, i.e, node, user, etc. It wouldn't show blocks anyway.
What happens if you enable a default view like the popular view that provides blocks? Does that view completely break?
The only way I can imagine the block type disappearing is if some module is somehow removing that plugin. It's vaguely possible a contrib module is somehow at fault here for accidentally overriding the 'block' display type. Did something you added recently add a new display type to Views? You do have a couple of extra display types there. Maybe one of them is badly implemented?

Cilline commentedThx merlinofchaos for your answer.
I checked and tested a few things. No success. The "Block"-type seems completely gone, no matter what I do. Guess some other module killed it. Is there a chance if I deactivate the views module and reinstall it via ftp?

merlinofchaos commentedOk, this is kind of a cheesy way to test to see if something has overriden the block type with something else, but create a new view. Add one display of every type to the view. Then visit the theme: information page (or hover over the tabs) to see what the actual IDs of the new displays are. If one of them shows up as block_1 then that is overwriting the real block display.

dawehnerOMG:
Block is translated with "sperren".

dawehnerThere is no reason to speak german here, sorry everyone should be able to understand it.
Translation of #5:
See http://drupal.org/files/issues/Views2_0.png
There is "sperren" availible as part of the select list. If you translate "sperren" back to english you get "block" which is what you want.

Cilline commented@dereine
read my post carefully. I don't want to block a view rather than to generate a block typed view, i.e. a view that appears in a block. Got it?
Thx. Cilline

dawehnerI know you want to add a display of type "block". But you seems to missunderstand me.
But someone translated "block" with "sperren". So in http://drupal.org/files/issues/Views2_0.png you see "sperren", even technical it's still display type "block". Please switch to english in your drupal installation and there will be "block".

Cilline commentedOh no, I don't believe it. I'll check at the weekend. If you are right, thanks a lot ... and to the german translators I give a :-(
