Hi,
I've created a view requiring arguments. The view is created precisely as I would like it to be - the live preview shows the view output to be perfect.
After adding a Page Display, I set the path of this page to newShop/%. I have tried the following:
1. After visiting mydomain.com/newShop or mydomain.com/newShop/argument I get a 404 Page Not Found error;
2. I manually created the page using 'create content' and gave the new page a path identical to the path specified for the view. In this case navigating to mydomain.com/newShop brings up an empty page that does not include the view. Navigating to mydomain.com/newShop/argument results in a 404 Page Not Found Error.
So it seems that the path functionality isn't working with views page displays. I've tried multiple times to re-create the view but keep getting the same problem.
I'd be very grateful for your assistance - thank you in advance. Is there any more information I could provide to help with diagnosis?
A thought... Could this be anything to do with cacheing?
Kind Regards,
Michael

merlinofchaos commented1) If your path is newShop/% then http://www.example.com/newShop will fail. The % indicates the argument is required.
2) If you visit newShop/argument and you get a 404, it could mean that the argument has validation on and that the validator is failing. Check your argument config for what it does in the case of validation failure. To easily test, set validation failure to 'show empty text' and make sure you have something descriptive in empty text.
3) Nodes using aliasing do not pass arguments. i.e, if you make a path 'newShop' using the url alias feature of nodes, what you are doing is creating an alias of node/X. That means visiting newShop is translated in Drupal as node/X. 'newShop/foo' does not translate to node/X/foo, however. Also, this has nothing whatsoever to do with Views.
Let me know what your results for #2 are.

michaeljw commentedThank you very much. It's so helpful when someone responds that quickly and accurately.
The issue now seems to have been resolved. I simply tried a choosing a different path and it worked like clockwork. I also made sure that the argument was of the correct format.
