Have tried this in both IE8 and FF. In IE, when I try to update any field in a View Display.. Arguments, Fields, whatever... and click the Update button, it attempts to download a file. In Firefox, it throws an error, "An error occurred at http://[myurl]/admin/build/views/ajax/change-style/[view name]/argument/name. Error Description: 0:"

As always its important to post the php error which are logged into your php error logs.

Alternative you could have a look at the result which is displayed in firebug. Additional you might clear all caches first.
