Is there a way to output the items in views_handler_field_prerender_list to the $result array?

An example of where this would be useful is the 'Taxonomy: All terms' field:
When you add the 'Taxonomy: Term' field to your view, the $result array has the following keys added to it:
- term_data_name
- term_data_vid
- term_data_tid
However, when you add the 'Taxonomy: All terms' field to the view, nothing is added to the $result array.
Ideally, something like 'term_data_tids' => array([tids here]) would be output in $result.

Is this at all possible?

The result array is the direct results of the query, and secondary queries don't really appear in the result array. It is theoretically possible for handlers to stuff their data into the result array, but in general they do not because of the danger of getting collisions. This data IS available but you need to go look at the handler object itself, or use the rendered data.
