I've been searching Drupal.org and I can't find anything that helps. If I missed a duplicate thread please direct me to it.
I'm new to Drupal and we're in the middle of converting our dept. website over from (mostly) static html to Drupal. We've figured out most of what we need, except this one issue: creating Faculty Bio pages and directory listings.
On our current site we have all faculty and staff bio information in a database (name, address, phone #, publications, research, photo, etc.). We then have several different directory pages that list either all faculty, all staff or all faculty and staff from a specific department. These directory pages just list the names alphabetically and sorts them by department (for the larger listings). Each name is a link and when clicked it takes you to the full bio listing for that person.
So, we're trying to duplicate this functionality in Drupal. We've created a content type called "facultybio" and added all the fields we wanted. Then we imported all our existing data into the table called "content_type_facultybio". We then created a View called v_facultybio and a Page display called "Faculty Directory Page" (with path). That "should" display the names of all active faculty (we have a field in the content type called "status" that is either "active" or "inactive"). The attached screen shots show the default settings and the Faculty Directory Page settings as well as the results of previewing the Faculty Directory page (full query in .txt file).
The main problem is that when going to the page there is nothing shown. What are we missing? Can we do what we intend with Views or should we be using another module altogether. One more thing, ultimately, if we can get the directory listings to display correctly we will create accounts for all of our faculty and staff and we would want them to be able to edit their own records.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide....

tinsmon commentedIn case it helps here's the URL of one of our existing directory listings just to give an idea of what we're trying to do via Drupal:

dawehnerDo you have nodes, which contains the cck data in your table, does they have the values in the node form?
I think that you missed that nodes has to be created to use cck.

tinsmon commenteddereine,
You are exactly right. This occurred to me last night and it took me all day to correct it. Basically, we had imported the data into the content_type table, but hadn't done anything with the Node or Node Revisions tables. I did some exporting and importing of data to create the nodes and sync up the node id's and now I'm all set.
Thanks...
