This doesn't look like it's possible right now from views. What are the ways in which this could be done?
I'm trying to create an image gallery, but it doesn't seem possible without a latest posted node field.
Thanks.

dawehnerwhat do you mean with "latest node information on a term view"
its quite hard to answer the questions

ManyNancy commentedSorry for the unclear question.
I want to create a term view for my vocabulary, that is, a table of terms. I want the latest updated node as a field, so that users can see what the latest posted node is for each term.
I think I'm basically requesting a field for the latest node on term view. But if there are any ways this could be done currently that would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

ManyNancy commentedI just saw here: http://drupal.org/node/338776
That this is not possible. Can somebody confirm if this is still the case and explain why?

Virgil commentedA combination of using the Simple Views module and the Views module will actually help you to achieve what you are asking here.

merlinofchaos commentedWell. If you make your view sorted descending by posted date, and display one item, that will get you the latest node.
If you want to do this for many terms, however, you'll have to run the view many times, because there is no easy way for SQL to determine the latest node for each term without having an actual pointer to that latest node. This pointer does not exist in the database.
