I've got a new site in Drupal (nsvt.woodmr.net) for showing events. Here's the organization:
- Content type Event with field collection Run and date field Date
- Taxonomy Company with text field Abbr
Here are my path aliases:
- Event: [node:field-company:0:field_abbr]/[node:field-run:0:field-date:custom:Y]/[node:title]
- Company: [term:field_abbr]
I have a taxonomy term View with Content: Has Taxonomy term ID that shows all the Events tagged with a specific Company. You can see an example here: nsvt.woodmr.net/nc-theatre.
What I would like to do is filter this taxonomy term view with dates, so that if people follow the Event url path back and type "nsvt.woodmr.net/nc-theatre/2015" as a url they receive a view of the Company filtered by the year 2015.
On my view I've added a relationship to the field collection item (Content: Run). Then I added a contextual filter for Field collection item: Date. When the filter value is NOT in the Url, I set it to "Display all results for the specified field." When the filter value IS in the URL or a default is provided, I set it to Basic Validation (and Display all results for the specified field when it does not validate). I set the granularity to year, check Use graunlarity from argument value, set a date year range, then select Only this field under Dates to compare. I then change my Views path setting to /company/%1/%2.
When I do all of this, I can get the desired behavior in my preview pane. However, when I navigate to "nsvt.woodmr.net/taxonomy/term/5/2015," I simply see the default taxonomy term view with all events from all years (naturally, this is not working at all with path aliases).
Is it possible to achieve the desired result on the site for real and not just in the (at times illusary) world of Views?
