Menu item disappears unless view is created using hook with additional setting

Hello,

I created an entity by updating the code in https://drupal.org/project/model (7.x-1.0-alpha2). Instead of implementing hook_views_default_views, I created the view manually. The view creates a page that is a default menu tab "admin/content/[entity]/list".

Issue:
The issue is that with a manually created view, the menu link admin/content/[entity]" and its sub-menus disappear.

Work around:
I exported my manually created view and inserted the code in hook_views_default_views. That by itself did not solve the issue. However, by adding "$handler->display->display_options['tab_options']['name'] = 'something';" to the page display, the menu link appeared again.
