I am trying to get my head around textual filters and was attempting to recreate the situation in the book "Using Drupal - chapter - using the views module"

That was for Drupal v6 so I am trying to do it with Drupal 7 and entity reference.

ie I want to attach a view tab to a type of content.

At the moment I am not worried about the entity reference bit as I cant get over the first hurdle of getting a tab attached to the content at all.

So to test, the view at the moment has "fields Content: Title (Title)" and is unfiltered so there is some data there to show up.

So, I have a content type 'job', then I created 'job' content titled 'lecturer', 'plumber' etc

So my content urls are eg

example.com/content/plumber
example.com/content/lecturer

My view path is set to content/%/viewtab
the contextual filter then pulls in and checks if content type = job

I have tried every combo using the menu options set to menu tab.

Problem is I cannot get any tab to show up attached to the job nodes.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Thanks

Yes. The problem is that you're trying to base your tabs off of aliases.

The internal URL of your content is node/%

For example, click on the 'edit' link of your content. Notice how that goes to node/%/edit?

You need to format your views URLs according to that pattern. Then it should work.
