Extract Node Id from first row of a view

I'm trying to do the following:

Create a different presentation for each user role.
Have a single button that redirects the user to the correct presentation based on their role.

To do this, I have created a view that lists 1 presentation. I have also limited the available presentations for each role to 1 and limited access to that content type to node specific levels. The view correctly draws the node id.

Then I created a link for my button ".../node/<?php..."

What I need to do is a views_get_view command that draws only the node id from row 1 and returns it as a string. Right now the best I can do with:

http://www.sitename.com/enter/<?php print views_embed_view('presentation', 'block_1'); ?>

It returns the NID in a containing div, breaking the link. What code should I use to only embed the nid from row 1 of the "presentation" view in D7?
