When looking at the markup code generated by drupal in a view, i get a little confused.

Is there a way - procedure - tutorial - that i can find that removes extra markup (

Yes, there's, through php programming.

You can:
a) develop your own view type in the way table view and list view are done
(see calendar view or tag summary view)
b) theme views so that a function strip the tags
c) let the div tags stay, since they aren't themed and are already sorted
(the names but should match the fields used)
