So basically it would be a lot easier for the user if when you selected "filter:content" you would get another drop down menu next to that whereby a user could filter the content by content type ( and maybe system , now that a few of the system types have moved to content eg Content: type ... path etc )

A lot of the time im setting up a view for an content type say .. event , And to find the event fields is a bit of a mission even when I use cntl + f.

You seem to be under the mistaken assumption that, in a view, there IS a "the content type". There is not. You may be filtering it down to one, but that does not automatically eliminate all the other filters. That's not a sensible logical process, even if on the surface it seems like it would be easier.
