Adding a footer view area for just 'this display' actually adds one to every display. So you need to go into your other displays and delete it after the fact, thats all.

dawehnerThis sounds like a bug and might be related to other ones struggling about this select.
dawehnerThis seems to be a duplicate of #1174588: Overriding 'Display access settings' changes all displays unless 'Access control type' is also overridden but because the other issue is hard to understand this might not be true.
But if the other issue is fixed, this one should be relooked at for sure.
dawehnerJust tagging to catch them all.
bojanz commentedI guess this is the issue I mentioned on IRC yesterday, and exists for adding any kind of handler for the first time (when the display is being overriden for the first time).
dawehnerI guess some people get confused by the problem that the italic behaves exactly the opposite like in drupal6.
bojanz commentedI actually see no way of adding a field to just one display, if that display was not overriden previously.
dawehnerDoes this issue still exists for the current version, as the override situation got improved quite a bit.

esmerel commentedSince nobody's reported it in a while, I'm going to assume the override fixes helped with it. If not, someone will assuredly reopen this or open a new one.
