PHP 8.3, Drupal 11.3.3, vefl 8.x-3.2

VEFL itself installs fine. But when I go to install the vefl_bef I get this error:

[22-Feb-2026 23:04:18 America/New_York] PHP Fatal error: Type of Drupal\vefl_bef\Plugin\views\exposed_form\VeflBef::$filterWidgetManager must be Drupal\better_exposed_filters\Plugin\BetterExposedFiltersWidgetManager (as in class Drupal\better_exposed_filters\Plugin\views\exposed_form\BetterExposedFilters) in /home/u602985182/domains/xxx/public_html/modules/contrib/vefl/modules/vefl_bef/src/Plugin/views/exposed_form/VeflBef.php on line 22

The site dies immediately and the PHP doesn't even make it into the "Recent log messages" in reports.

What to do?

Adding, I hacked line 22 to do what the error message said I should do ("must be"). Line 22 now reads:

/* class VeflBef extends BetterExposedFilters {	*/

class VeflBef extends BetterExposedFiltersWidgetManager {

Now it installs without error. Whether it functions properly is another question; I will report back.

UPDATE A " Better Exposed Filters (with layout)" radio button appears in the "Exposed Form" section of my view, but when I click it, nothing happens. However, the following error appears in "Recent Log Messages" in "Reports":

Drupal\Component\Plugin\Exception\PluginException: Plugin "vefl_bef" (Drupal\vefl_bef\Plugin\views\exposed_form\VeflBef) must implement interface Drupal\views\Plugin\views\ViewsPluginInterface. in Drupal\Component\Plugin\Factory\DefaultFactory::getPluginClass() (line 101 of /home/u602985182/domains/thejackpot.blog/public_html/core/lib/Drupal/Component/Plugin/Factory/DefaultFactory.php).

So for now VEFL and BEF cannot be combined

I believe this is a duplicate of issue https://www.drupal.org/project/vefl/issues/3161777. VELF BEF plugin has been broken for a few years.

I'd recommend trying the MR 6 or the patch from comment #39, depending on how you apply your patches.

Thanks, but I just backed out of the BEF world entirely (along with the Tagify world, which seems to clash with it).

I am a simple blogger site developer; I want to be writing for readers, not managing patches!
