Problem/Motivation

Varbase 10.1.x gave editors a useful dashboard from varbase_dashboards: a user card, Add content, the editor's drafts, all content and scheduled content. Varbase 11 sites land on the Drupal CMS welcome dashboard instead, which shows announcements and generic lists.

Editors should land on a Varbase dashboard again, built with configuration only (no custom code), using the Dashboard module that Varbase already installs.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install a Vardot site template on Varbase 11.
  2. Log in as an editor and open the dashboard.
  3. It shows the Drupal CMS welcome dashboard, with announcements and generic lists.

Proposed resolution

In Varbase Admin Base, lay out the welcome dashboard like varbase_dashboards:

  • A welcome card on top of the left column: the user's picture with "Welcome" and their name beside it (a 128×128 WebP avatar image style), from a small view of the current user.
  • Left column: Add content (the Create menu), Top tasks and Drupal Events.
  • Right column: My drafts, Recent content, Recent pages and accessibility alerts.
  • Scheduled content underneath. No Announcements block.
  • Apply core's user_picture recipe, which the welcome card needs.

Depends on #3629379: Carry the admin UI from the removed drupal_cms_admin_ui, as the welcome dashboard comes with it. My drafts and Scheduled content become visible to editors, and list Varbase workflow drafts, through a follow-up to #3629373: Allow Tagify 2 and carry the content basics from the removed drupal_cms_content_type_base in Varbase Content Base (branch 3629373-publishing-content-view), which should land first.

Updated screenshots for MR !36 after the latest changes: the Drupal Events block is removed, and the picture is bigger with the name beside it. Fresh Drupal CMS 2.2.3 install of Varbase Starter with the Varbase testing users and some sample drafts and accessibility alerts. The pictures are Varbase demo photos set on the test users; the recipe ships none. The Varbase logo in the navigation was set by hand on the test site.
