marcp commentedIt sounds like a directory permissions problem on your server. If you look in your sites/all/modules directory you should see a listing of module directories. I'm guessing that the userplus module has different permissions than the other modules. It needs to be readable by the web server.
How did you put the module on your server?

Kikky commentedI'm working on localhost, I just copied and paste
Comment #3
marcp commentedSounds like a permissions problem on localhost, then. Are there other modules in sites/all/modules? Can you do a directory listing of sites/all/modules?
Kikky commentedIt is the only module I have in the Drupal installation, however I tried on another one that has multiple modules and receive the same message.
This is the list of modules in the second Drupal installation, in both sites the userplus folder has the same permissions:
drwxrwxrwx 7 4096 2011-05-28 12:28 casetracker
drwxrwxrwx 8 4096 2011-05-28 12:28 cck
drwxrwxrwx 3 4096 2011-05-28 12:27 dhtml_menu
drwxrwxrwx 13 4096 2011-05-28 12:27 messaging
drwxrwxrwx 10 4096 2011-05-28 12:27 notifications
drwxrwxrwx 8 4096 2011-05-28 12:27 og
drwxrwxrwx 6 4096 2011-05-28 12:27 phpmailer
drwxrwxrwx 8 4096 2011-06-07 11:40 privatemsg
drwxrwxrwx 3 4096 2011-06-07 11:40 token
drwx------ 3 4096 2011-01-27 17:17 userplus
drwxrwxrwx 14 4096 2011-05-28 12:27 views
drwxrwxrwx 8 4096 2011-05-28 12:27 webfm
I tried extracting and copying (in both sites) the module as root and my user but in both cases the folder is copied with the same permissions: "drwx ------ 3"
After I changed the permissions (in both sites) via terminal with root user:
"chmod 777 / opt/lampp/htdocs/d62/sites/all/modules/userplus"
... was not a good idea because more errors now appear on the sites (see image more_errors.png).
I guess I have to change the file permission to file.inc (image userplus.png) and userplus folder but I'm not sure what permission types give to it.

marcp commentedI can see what's going on there but am not at a place right now where I can offer support for this. I think you will get some help pretty quickly in the Forums: http://drupal.org/forum
Perhaps try the post-installation forum. This is a basic file permissions issue that folks there should be able to help you with.
Kikky commentedI did it!
You only have to add permission to read and write to the folder RECURSIVELY with the command:
chmod 777 -R [folder_name]
I was not putting "-R" and therefore write permissions were not applied to subfolders and files in the module.
I was working on Windows and did not need to do this, I'm not sure if Ubuntu will always have to grant this permission to install new Drupal modules.

marcp commentedGreat, I'm glad you figured it out. You may want to read up on security best practices. 777 is valid because the web server will be able to read the directory, but it can also write to the directory, which is something you will not want to happen, except in the files directory, for the most part.
I'm closing this ticket out. Please promise to read up on Drupal's security best practices!
