Checking existence of modules "nodeprofile" and "usernode" to perform a task.But these modules are not present for D7.

I am porting this module to D7.

In the function user_visits_d7_exit() there is a check for the modules "nodeprofile" and "usernode" to perform a task.But these modules are not present for D7.
Hence, is any checking of this sort necessary? Is any other kind of checking required in place of this? Should I just omit this?
