Allows managing node access by user terms / tags. Users can be grouped together through taxonomy terms, e.g. 'Customers', 'Suppliers' or 'Employees'. Per node you can then select which of these user groups can view, update or delete it.
How it works
- On install, the module creates a "User node access" vocabulary. You can also use an existing vocabulary on the settings page.
- It adds 3 fields to both users and nodes:
User term(s) with view access,User term(s) with update accessandUser term(s) with delete access. - A user gets access to a node when they share a term in the matching field. E.g. a user with 'Customers' in the view access field can view all published nodes that have 'Customers' in their view access field.
- Access is handled through the Drupal node access grants system, so it also applies to listings, Views and search.
Getting started
- Install the module as usual:
composer require drupal/user_term_node_access - Optionally pick another vocabulary at Configuration > People > User term node access (/admin/config/people/user_term_node_access).
- Add terms to the vocabulary.
- Enable the user term fields on the form display of the content types you want to control, and on the user form display. The "Check boxes/radio buttons" widget works best.
- Rebuild node permissions on the Status report page (/admin/reports/status).
See the README for more details.
Requirements
- Drupal 10.3 or higher, 11 or 12
- Node and Taxonomy (core)
Things to keep in mind
- Only the fields provided by this module are used for access. Other taxonomy term reference fields on users or nodes are not taken into account.
- Like any node access module, it can interact with other node access modules on the same site. Grants from different modules are combined, so test your setup when combining them.
Similar projects
- Permissions by Term: restricts access to nodes by linking users and roles to taxonomy terms on the term itself.
