I'm testing transactions with the Linkpoint Gateway in Test Approved Response Mode with a Live Server, using the PREAUTH transaction type. I get an approved response back that says that the payment was processed.

As I understand the instructions, PREAUTH type transactions will appear in Linkpoint Virtual Terminal's Transaction Report Screens so that I can complete (capture) the transaction. The test transaction is not appearing there, so I'm wondering if that is because it is a test transaction or if something is working wrong. When I talked to the YourPay/LinkPoint support desk I was told that the transaction should appear there even if it is a test transaction. So, that makes me concerned. Do I have to run a real CC transaction to see if it is really working?

I'm pretty sure the Test transaction will not show up in the Virtual Terminal. From what I can tell setting that field just causes the response code to be returned from the server. I would suggest requesting a test account from Linkpoint to do your testing.
