Hello,
I think this module is really useful for those of us wanting to display popular categories. I need to do this, but have no idea how to implement this module the way I need to. The administration screen and 1 block does not solve my issue exactly (need separate lists for multiple vocabs), so I would like to just enter a code snippet, similar to what you outline on the project home page, into a custom content region using Panels.
However, I have no clue when it comes to PHP. I just want to display a list of 5 popular categories (terms) in an unordered list. Would you mind showing me how to do this?
Thanks,
Joe

adub commentedThis module only provides one block and doesn't come with views integration as it was just intended to provide a quick and easy hot topics type of list. I haven't used this with panels but in order to get a number of lists, you would have to use code. So to get 2 lists of terms for vocab ids 1 and 2:
$terms1 and $terms2 should contain an array of objects containing term id, term name, view count. (Whether these are by day or alltime are dependent on the setting in the module config.)
You could play with the above in a safe environment or look into commissioning views integration or similar to allow blocks to be created in the admin interface. In any case I'd suggest you make a feature request in the issue queue for multiple blocks with separate configurations.
