Drupal doesn't do a great job of providing Analytics for referrers since you can't really easily see all stats for a day, a week, a month, all-time, etc. Furthermore, thes stats displayed include all referrals. Currently I use Google Analytics to check out my linking partners.

Ideally, since we now have a toplist module it would be good to see daily, weekly, monthly, and all-time stats for just the existing link exchange partners. A backlink checker would be good to, but it would require that the partner idicates where the link will appear, which is yet another field.

I think that adding a new field in which we would force webmasters to indicate the URL in which they will place the link would complicate a lot the whole process. A backlink checker would be a brand new project, which might then integrate with this project or not: it would be better to keep things separate, so that they are even more scalable.

Rather, it would probably be good and in line with the original idea of the project to have an "expiration time" after which a link that hasn't send any referrals in the last X days would be removed from the statistics, but still kept in the index, so that if that site starts sending referrals again, it would be included again.
