Automatic insertion of paragraph <p> in text area.

Hello,
When using the editor, it automatically adds the

tag to entered text. Is there any way to disable this (besides using the HTML filters in the Input Formats section of Drupal to strip out the

tag from the output)? Perhaps some additional lines to the tinymce init script to change the default settings of the text area?
