I followed instructions carefully. Module is in right place. As is tinyMCE in exact right subdirectory.

Module is enabled, permissions granted. ttMCE page appears under 'site config'. Toggle button is there under edit blocks. But no toggle happening. This appears in status bar, in case it's of any help.

javascript:toggletinyMCE('edit-body')

I don't currently use an editor, but liked the lightweight sound of this.

Any suggestions?

Hi John,

It's hard to figure what's going on here; the toggle displays and gives the correct link so it sounds as though everything is in the right place.

Is your browser reporting any Javascript errors when the page loads or when you click the link?

Another thing to look for is whether the tinymce script is being loaded into the page. You should have in your head tags something like:

     <script type="text/javascript" src="/sites/all/modules/tinytinymce/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js?m"></script>

Lower down there should be another couple of scripts, looking like this

<script type="text/javascript">tinyMCE.init({
   mode : "exact",
   elements: "edit-body,edit-module-content",
   ....
});

AND

function toggletinyMCE(id) {
   if (!tinyMCE.getInstanceById(id))
      tinyMCE.execCommand('mceAddControl', false, id);
   else
      tinyMCE.execCommand('mceRemoveControl', false, id);
}</script>

If you would like to do a "View Source" and send the file to me, I will take a look.

Another thought is that it is simply a caching issue. I would try:
- refreshing the page (F5)
- clearing the browser cache
- clearning Drupal's cache in site maintenance

(The reason I say this because I moved all the module files to a different location to test something and the editor was still appearing even though it shouldn't!. So obviously tere was some caching going on.)

Title: Not working for me » Working now!

Hi Steve:

It is working fine now upon a fresh reboot of my system this morning. Sorry for the semi-false alarm.

I'm guessing it was a caching issue - probably #2 of your list of 3 because I think I did clear all cache records via phpMyAdmin last night and refreshed page multiple times, but I didn't clear browser cache. Should have done that. So restarting of FF this morning may have done the trick.

Thanks for your thoughtful response - and your efforts to create the module to begin with.

The editor looks good and I look forward to using it.

John

Title: Working now! » Same problem... different solution?
Status: Closed (fixed) » Active

I hoped that this would solve my problem, but it has not. Everything is installed properly. I am able to access the TinyTinyMCE admin (admin/settings/tinytinymce). I see the "rich text editor" toggle, same as above, pointing to javascript:toggletinyMCE('edit-body'). However, nothing happens when I try to enable it. I have refreshed and emptied all of my cache (Drupal & browser) without success. I just upgraded from Drupal 5.8 to 5.10 in hopes that this would fix the issue, but still am not able to get it to work. Any suggestions???

Ok - I have it working now, but had to resolve one more problem. The reason it wasn't working is because the person who themed my site had removed some of the default Drupal calls in the area (specifically the scripts). I then had a new problem. The icons were all on top of of one another. This was because of a style that was set to cause images to display with the attribute "block" rather than the default "inline." I still needed most of my images to display as "block", so I resolved it by adding this to my style.css:

table img {
	display: inline;
}

All is well...
