My current project is case in point. Load the website below in 800 x 600 res.

notice the middle column is squeezed thin as the browser window attempts to squeeze everything without affording a horizontal scroll bar.

The ideal 3-column pageload on an 800 x 600 res should strongly resemble

newsfrombabylon.com

i've tried messing with the bluemarine css file. nothing. switched to goofy theme (default install) but the same result. same with all other themes.

am i missing something incredibly simply here or is this a glitch in 4.6x ?

I am guessing you have a caching problem. I tried your site in both IE and firefox and it looked fine.
