Hello, I have created a new theme starting from bluemarine, without any sort of modification.
Going in to the themes section of admin and enabling the newly created theme (only enabling, no defaulting), I get the following error
warning: theme_editor_engine_regions(): Failed opening '' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/drupal/themes/engines/theme_editor/theme_editor_engine.engine on line 54.
After that, by putting the theme as default for the website, the rendered output misses completely the left sidebar.
De-defaulting the customized theme, things get ok.
I use a lot of modules, so basically I don't know whether this is direct consequence of theme editor or not.

brunoslessa commentedI am having the same problem using blix theme. Does Someone knows as to solve it?

gsquirrelI had this problem and got around it by going to admin > blocks and clicking "submit" to get the blocks to show again, although already enabled it seemed that I had to re-enforce it somehow for the theme editor theme to display them...
however i now keep getting duplicate warnings about my themes and theme editor engine so something is still screwy, althoug the theme seems to display alright...

ron collins commentedof course, if you don't have a sidebar, you may not be able to click on "administer" or "blocks". the url to get there is generally, http://yoursite.com/admin/block or http://yoursite.com/?q=admin/block

jillelaine commentedi too am having the same problem: missing left AND right sidebars. drupal 4.7.4 and using theme_editor 4.7.0 on php4.4.4_1
info from top of module: /* $Id: theme_editor.module,v 1.7 2006/07/18 23:23:48 walkah Exp $ */
i can make a copy of box_grey theme (box_grey_customized), then enable it either as "default theme" or as my theme in "my account", and i get no sidebars. i can get the sidebars to reappear by going directly to admin/block, unchecking and then rechecking them. once i do this for each customized theme, the sidebars remain there for all users. but that's only a workaround. a fix would be so nice. :-)
error message is: theme_editor_engine_regions() [function.include]: Failed opening '' for inclusion (include_path='.:/php/includes') in /usr/local/www/websites/aeztest/themes/engines/theme_editor/theme_editor_engine.engine on line 54.
this module worked so well with drupal 4.6.x! i'm willing to help debug if someone could point me in the right direction. thank you.

sspr commentedWhen the work-around posted above is applied ( visit admin/blocks, select theme, 'Save Blocks'),
The following errors occur frequently:
Duplicate entry 'themes/engines/theme_editor/theme_editor_engine.engine' for key 1 query: INSERT INTO system (name, type, filename, status, throttle, bootstrap) VALUES ('theme_editor_engine', 'theme_engine', 'themes/engines/theme_editor/theme_editor_engine.engine', 1, 0, 0) in /opt/www/bruyninckxh/web/www.kindyn.org/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 121.
I believe it happens when block settings are changed, but I'm not sure. Despite this error, things seem to work fine though.

koechsle commentedI'm still having this Duplicate entry problem.
I have installed the patch from http://drupal.org/node/97486:
if (!function_exists($engine->name .'_templates')) drupal_load('theme_engine', $engine->name);
I have also upgraded from Drupal 4.7.4 to the Drupal 4.7.5 and have reinstalled the latest (16/1 2007) 4.7.x-1.x-dev version to no avail.
I'm having this or similar errors periodically - it's not the same errors each time, and many times there isn't any error. Then if I reload the page a couple of times it comes again in some form. Very strange behaviour.
I really need the theme editor module for two+ sites so I'm a waiting anxiously for a fix.
Example of the error:
