What does this mean and how do I do it?

in my var/www folder do I create another folder to put tattler in?

Tattler needs to be installed on a sub-domain. This release-candidate version is not, yet, fully tested with a subfolder installation mode.

That means it should be set up as an independent virtualhost in Apache, not - a subfolder of an existing virtualhost.
