Using Filter to embed flash

I have a few separate issues, so I am placing my configuration in this issue and will refer to it from the other issues.

Configuration: I tried this with 5.x-1.x first, then downloaded the -dev to see if things improved, and they did not. I originally had only SWF Tools, SWFObject, and Wijering Flash enabled, and then when things did not work, I enabled jquery.flash.js, Flash Filter, and SWF Tools Integration. I downloaded the zip files from the SWFObject site, the Wijering site, and later the jquery site, renamed the folders to match the readme in the Shared folder, and saw that the "Missing" icons that were in the Embedding Settings were gone. The Default flash player path is blank. The Media directory url is http://celebratesf.com/drupal/files (I have installed Drupal on a test site named drupal). File handling: .flv - Wijering, .mp3 - Wijering, images - Rotator, mixed media - Wijering. Most other settings are set to defaults.

The issue at hand: I tried using the filter syntax based on the emspace format. I assume by filter you mean that the filter HTML option is checked on the page I am working in.

<swf file="myflashname.swf"> and <swf file="myotherflash.flv">

Neither of these worked for me, while choosing to allow php and the php syntax worked great. I even tried adding as one of the allowed html filters. After trying this for a while, I downloaded the -dev version and that's when I attempted enabling Flash Filter and still had no luck with any of the filtered syntaxes (even the new ones created in the help page).
