flowplayer3 and playlists

I am trying to make playlists work with flowplayer 3. I have set swf tools flowplayer3 file paths to point to the right files and have flowplayer embedding set on and html playlists enabled. I have created a view with the cck video field set to path, used the swf tools style and configured the video content field as the file field. Everything works fine in the view preview, i see a player with a playlist. But whenever i view a page generated from the view or go to a single video node i only get a rectangle with {$title}, {$artist}, {$duration}. If i disable html playlists in flowplayer settings then the single video node works fine. I have tried using swf tool profiles one with cck output "playlists" for the view and one with cck output "separate players" for the video nodes, but that did not make any difference.
