What is the purpose of the content types tab for a user's subscriptions? It seems to me if I select blog then I would get an email when ever anyone blogs on the site? If that is the case, this is not working.

Yup. That's how it's supposed to work. And does. At least on my test server.

I doesn't seemed to work. However, I applied the patch you provided to remove the RSS since it didn't create a feed that worked so perhaps that affect it -- ??

Categories works well.

This content type feature works fine for me (5.x-1.9).
