I'm not sure if this feature already exists and I am not using it correctly or if I need to patch my subscriptions module, but is there a way to have the Subscribe block show other places besides only on the actual node? For example, I am using this to allow users to subscribe to my blog. I would like it where if they are on my main blog page: www.example.com/blog they will get an option in the right sidebar to "Subscribe to the Blog" as a whole, but then if they click on a category and display all blogs in a category by going to "www.example.com/blog/category/[category]", the block will have "Subscribe to [category]" AND "Subscribe to Blog". Then if they go to a specific authors blog www.example.com/blog/author/[author]" they will get "Subscribe to Blog" AND "Subscribe to blog articles from [Author]" and "Subscribe to blog articles in [category] by [author]. It just sucks not allowing them to be able to subscribe to anything unless they drill down all the way into an actual blog article.
Is this possible out of the box, or will this involve some hacking?
THANKS

salvisNo, this is not possible out of the box. AFAIK, paths such as blog/category/[category] and blog/author/[author] are not core paths. You've probably configured them using a contrib module such as Pathalias, and on a non-English site they might be configured differently.
If you use the string "author" in your Pathalias pattern, then that's just a string, and Subscriptions has no way of knowing that this is somehow related to a user.
IOW, this is site-specific and I see no way to implement something like this in a generic way. So, yes, you will need to write custom code for this.
I don't know off-hand how accommodating the Subscriptions code is for this task -- if we can improve/create an API then feel free to post a patch.
