The current (default) setting for digest mails is to send the full content of the new node, etc.

How should the template be edited to send only the titles plus the link to that node, etc.?

I've found that my confusion was because I didn't realise that the Digest pulls its data from each of the individual templates.

Once I realised that, I found the coding that controls what appears in the Digest.

For the sake of completeness (and in case anyone else is looking for this ), the solution was simply to remove the following from each individual template:
(starts line 16)

{{![subs:is-old]? 
[node:body]:{{![subs:has-distinct-summary]? 
[node:body]:| Summary:
 
[node:summary]}}}}

I think your solution is probably neater, but this works, too!
